We all stay in a house made of bricks and all, but how many of us
think of staying in a airplane or a tipi home. And, the answer is very
few. That is the reason perhaps I am still living in a normal apartment.
Well, it takes courage to go out of the way to live your dreams and
today, I am bringing to you 20 homes that display this courage. Cool and
completely out of this world, it might be so interesting to live in
these house. All you need to do is, scroll down and take in the sights
and the inspiration to build a shoe house of your own.
1) Airplane Home
Its definitely not a joke, but a trend that is fast catching on. Buy an airplane and turn it into a heavenly abode. What could be better than this?
2) Cave House
This house
been actually carved out of a mountain. This house was first used as a
mine for decades, then it was transformed into a concert venue and
finally a home.
3) Apartment Encased in Aluminum Foil
It was a prank by Chris Kirk’s friend, to encase the entire apartment in aluminum foil. When I say entire, I mean it, as even a single coin in the apartment was encased in foil.
4) Sliding House
Sliding house by dRMM Architecture has a skin that is capable of sliding back and forth with ease.
5) Football House
By Jan Sonkie, this house stands out in the real sense of the word in Malawi’s commercial capital.
6) Upside down House
As a project by Daniel Czapiewski, this house
stands tall in a tiny village of Poland. It is also a symbol of the
communist era and state of the world. This house took relatively longer
to build, as the workers were disoriented due to the angels of the
house. Inside the house too the furniture hangs from the ceiling. This
house attracts lot of tourists all year round.
7) Single ‘Billboard’ Hauz
Single Hauz
by Front Architects draw inspiration from highway billboards. It is a
cool idea, but too tiny for me to fit in. Of course, it is an amazing
weekend getaway.
8) The Kettle House
Situated in Texas, Unites States, this house
looks and works like a kettle. Unfortunately, I have only this much
information, but I am sure this delightful design will make up for it.
9) Pickle Barrel House
Its so spicy from just the look of it. This house is situated in Grand Marais.
10) The Shoe House
Shoe House is the work of entrepreneur and artist Ron Van Zyl, who built it in 1990.
11) Floating Home in Ukraine
Need I say more? This house literally defies gravity. Love it!
12) UFO House
Chattanooga, Tennessee is the home to this unusual UFO House. It was originally built in 1970s.
13) N55 Walking house
This house can actually stroll at a walking pace. This 10ft high home is wind and solar powered.
14) Cookie Jar House
John Dobbin’s house is shaped like a giant cookie jar, there were plans to build more houses like this when it was built. Very much like pickle barrel house, the only difference is the ingredients. The jar’s lid functions as a widow’s walk.
15) Bubble House
Situated in Tourettes-sur-Loup, France, this strange bubble house has been designed by organic architect Antti Lovag. And, it has already been given the status of Historic monument.
16) The mushroom “Pod” House
This pod house has been nicknamed Mushroom house
because of its shape. It has been actually inspired by the pattern of
stem of Queen’s Anne’s Lace. It is Located at 142 Park Road in Powder
Mills Park.
17) Free spirit “tree hanging” House
Free Spirit Sphere hangs from the tree, so more or less it is a tree house. These spheres look like a bird’s nest on a tree.
18) Weird House in Alps
I wonder if people actually live in this one. But, the house design is definitely weird to make it into the list.
19) Cincinnati’s Mushroom House
Architect named Terry Brown made this house for himself with the weirdest imagination possible. It is a rugged looking house, still a house is perfect enough to house humans.
20) Eliphante & Hippodome
The main building is called the Eliphante and one of the surrounding building is called the hippodome. And, it is all self made.
21) Boat Houses on Land
Obviously, it isn’t unusual to live in house boats. But, when these boats
are made from materials like plywood and plaster and to top it all are
parked on the main land, then that definitely is unusual.

Why its unusual? Because, this house has been curved out of a single log.

Or should I say a tiny house? Designed by John Paananen, this house has been made with pvc siding, polypropylene sheeting, engineered timber, and polycarbonate supports.
